"I came right out of undergraduate school, in 1976, and came right into this business. My last company offered me a position in Florida. And Florida's great, but I have three kids who had been here in Kansas City since kindergarten when I came out here fourteen years ago, so it wouldn't make sense at this time to move.
Most of my former companies are all top-down corporate structures. They have a field distribution structure that's heavily put forward by a home office employee, such as a Vice President of Distribution, who micro-manages each distribution outlet.
I wanted to go to a company that would support my efforts and my vision of how I wanted to build a business. A company that would actually be excited about the way I was building it, and would act as a partner and provide resources.
